Florian Wirtz has been named Germany’s men’s Footballer of the Year for 2024-25, following a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen. The 22-year-old, who recently joined Liverpool, received 191 votes in the annual poll organized by Kicker magazine, outpacing his closest competitors Michael Olise and Nick Woltemade. Wirtz’s impressive performance included 16 goals and 15 assists across all competitions.
In the women’s category, the award was shared by Germany captain Giulia Gwinn and goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, who each received 145 votes. While Gwinn’s European Championship was cut short due to injury, Berger had a standout performance, making numerous key saves that helped Germany reach the semifinals.
Freiburg’s Julian Schuster was named Coach of the Year after leading his team to the Europa League in his debut season.
