The Kremlin has unleashed its fury over a Western plan for Ukraine’s future, with President Vladimir Putin vowing to militarily strike any foreign troops that enter the country. His statement that such forces would be “legitimate targets” is an unambiguous threat designed to intimidate Kyiv’s allies and derail their postwar security planning.
The focus of Putin’s anger is a 26-nation initiative, promoted by France, which aims to provide Ukraine with security guarantees through a military deployment once the war ends.
