Kazakhstan and Germany are set to deepen their economic collaboration, focusing on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This initiative follows talks in Berlin on September 29 between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. During the discussions, Tokayev emphasized the importance of Germany as Kazakhstan’s strategic partner in Europe and praised the development of bilateral relations over the past thirty years.
A key proposal from Tokayev during his visit was the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This platform aims to support joint projects and ease investment flows between the two nations. Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to explore collaboration in areas such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing.
The dialogue included plans for developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, modernizing railway infrastructure, and expanding manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan. These initiatives are intended to bolster Kazakhstan’s industrial and infrastructure sectors, offering German companies greater access to the Central Asian market.
The discussions demonstrate a mutual interest in leveraging economic ties to foster broader regional engagement. Both countries are keen on exploring opportunities for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan, potentially enhancing the economic landscape in Central Asia.
This meeting marks a significant step forward in the relationship between Kazakhstan and Germany, highlighting a shared commitment to expanding economic cooperation and reinforcing strategic partnerships.
